Will an AI answer quote your page?

AI summaries quote pages that answer a question in plain sight. Check whether your page does, question by question.

Build an answer brief

Paste the questions customers ask, one per line. Each row gives the opening sentence, the evidence to add and where it should sit on the page.

The brief is a template, not generated prose. It tells you what the first sentence must do, which fact to add and which part of the page should hold it. You still write the answer.

Add at least one question.

What makes a page quotable

An answer engine reads the text a server returns. If the answer appears only after a script runs, inside an image, or three screens below a long introduction, the engine has less to work with.

The pages that get quoted usually share three habits: the question appears in a heading, the answer follows in the first sentence, and the claim is followed by a date or a source a reader can check.

A citation is not a visit

Being named in an AI answer and receiving a click are separate events. Some answers link, some name the brand without a link, and some summarise without either. Keep a record of the prompt, the engine, the date and the exact sentence, then compare it with search clicks.

A page can be cited often and still convert poorly. That is a page problem, not an AI problem.

What this brief does not do

It does not ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Google anything. It does not promise that a page will be cited. It turns a list of questions into a writing plan you can check against the page.

Questions before you use it

Do I need special schema for AI answers?

No. Google says its AI search features use the same foundations as ordinary search. Clear headings, visible facts and crawler access matter more than a special markup file.

Why is my page not cited?

Common reasons are that the answer is not in the first screen of text, the page never states the fact plainly, or the crawler cannot read the page. Check those before rewriting.

Should I write short paragraphs for AI?

Write short paragraphs for readers. An answer-first opening helps both. Padding a page with fragments to please a machine makes it worse for the person deciding whether to call.

Does a citation bring traffic?

Sometimes. An answer that links can send visits; one that only names the brand may send none. Measure it separately from search clicks.

How do I track AI answers over time?

Keep the same prompt set, run it on a schedule, and record the engine, market and date. Compare the same prompt with itself, not one prompt against another.
